Prime University observed Martyred Intellectuals day on 14th December, 2018 and paid homage to the Martyred intellectuals with due solemnity. To observe the day Prime University chalked out programs including taking black badge, placing the wreaths and rally from Prime University Permanent campus, Mazar Road Mirpur-1 to Martyrs monument at "Mirpur Shahid Buddhijibi" Mausoleum.

Along with Prof Dr Jahagir Alam,Dean Faculty of Business Studies, Heads of Different faculties, Registrar M A Jabber, Nur Hossain Talukdar, Controller of examinations, Faculty members of Different Departments, Executives, staff and students brought out a procession and gathered at shaheed Monument to place floral wreaths.

A workshop on Draft Self-Assessment Report (SAR) of the department of EEE was held at Prime University (PU) in the seminar room on 13 September, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The Workshop was organized by Self-Assessment Committee of EEE department of PU. Alhaj Mir Shahabuddin, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of Prime University Trust was the Chief Guest while Md Abu Zaman, Associate Professor and Head of Self-Assessment Committee chaired the session. The Special Guests were Md. Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, BOT of PU, Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr ASA Noor, and Director of IQAC of Prime University.

Prof Dr Jahangir Alam, Dean of Faculty of Business Studies, Prof Jahangir Alam, D Engg, Head of the department of CSE, Prof Dr Rezaul Karim Mazumder, depertment of EEE of PU, M A Jabber, Registrar and Md Jahidul Azad, Additional Director of IQAC, PU were also present in the workshop. Mr Shuvodip Das, Assistant Professor of EEE, Md Mostak Ahmed, Associate Professor and Head of EEE and Md Abu Zaman, Associate Professor of EEE presented the draft report in the Workshop.

Md Abu Zaman, Associate Professor and Head of the Self-Assessment Committee of EEE delivered the welcome speech. He emphasized that there are tremendous prospects of enhancing quality higher education in the private sector and the IQAC plays a vital role in developing the faculties that they can impart quality education nationwide for producing quality engineering graduate students. He also said that his department is doing very well and they are trying their level best to serve the nation in all the areas of Higher Education of EEE.

Alhaj Mir Shahabuddin inaugurated the workshop and said, "We have to go all through the report before the due time and it is high time to mark our strengths and weaknesses by finding our own problems. It will help us to understand where we are standing and what more we have to improve".

Md Ashraf Ali delivered his speech on the aspect of developing the quality higher education in the university level. He expected that the SAR would be the finest document to be produced and our quality graduate products will be accepted in the country and abroad without any question. In order to get success of this program, he suggested that all the department should have similarities in between their SA Reports that there may not arise contradiction. Otherwise dissimilarities will make confusion.

Prof Dr Rezaul Karim Mazumder of the department of EEE of PU said that a good university must have three things. Those are good faculties, good laboratories and good library. Among these, the faculty is the most important one. If they are having good qualities they will enrich the department and so the university will automatically rise to its excellence. Good library encourages the students for better study and obviously the laboratory facilities bring the practice aspects of learning which are very important in this level of higher study.

M A Jabber, Registrar of Prime University also expressed his belief that Prime University is sure to succeed if academics stimulate and ensure imparting quality education to make the university a center of excellence. He expected that we have very good faculty members and they will bring gold medals for the university very soon from the UGC.

Prof Dr A S A Noor, the Director of IQAC illustrated through his works and experience that yet he is going ahead with his destination stages for SWOT analysis. There is lot of issues, different types of difficulties, findings, supervision during his period of duty etc. He said, Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor and Prof Dr Jahangir Alam, Dean of Faculty Business Studies reviewed the draft reports. They have done a good job and given very effective feedbacks to improve the reports. He gave thanks for their valuable suggestion. He also wish to finish his work within the due time that is by 30th November, 2018 to get a good peer review report.

Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, said that self-assessment is the best assessment. This SAR will show how they have assessed themselves in enhancement of higher education in EEE. It is an eye opener event to us as to how much quality education we are providing to the students, as we always claim that we have been providing quality higher education to our learners. It will show the strengths, weakness, opportunity and threat in front of us of the different sectors of the university. He said that we arrange training session for the faculty members at the beginning of every year. With the addition of UDL (University Grants Commission Digital Library) our library has become more reach with adequate e-books and e-resources facilities in the form of many journals in electronic form. He emphasized that a good faculty is he, who involves himself with teaching as well as doing research at the same time. He assured that he will study the report and will discuss about the findings with the top management of the university. We must be on the track providing with the quality education to students by developing effective teaching methodology. AS 20 hi-tech parks are being set-up in 12 districts, there we will need hundreds and thousands of ICT and other types of quality graduates, even law graduates for the legal divisions of those parks. He wished grand successes of the workshop. He also thanked and congratulated those who arranged the workshop.

A seminar was held on 29.08.2018 at 12:00 noon in the Prime University premises

A seminar on "Jago Tarunno, Rukho Jongibad" was held on 29.08.2018 at 12:00 noon in the Prime University premises. The seminar was chaired by Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of the University. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Mr Anupam Shahajahan Joy, Honorable MP, (Tangail-8). Ms Qantara Khan, Director, Suchinta Foundation was the coordinator of the seminar. The seminar was jointly organized by Centre for Research, HRD and Publications of Prime University and "Suchinta Foundation", Dhaka. Mr Jabber Hossain, Editor of Aj Sarabela was the anchor of the seminar. The seminar focused on the perception of the young generation on terrorism worldwide. Among others Deans of different faculties, Registrar, Heads, faculty members and students of different departments were present in the seminar.

Prime University observed the National Mourning Day and paid homage to the Father of the Nation

Prime University observed the National Mourning Day and paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due solemnity and honor marking his 43rd death anniversary on 15 August 2018 at the university campus, 114/116 Mazar Road,Mirpur-1 in the capital.

Prime Univerity have chalked out various programs including discussions to commemorating the anniversary of Bangabandhu's tragic 43rd death anniversary. The day's programmes began with hoisting of national flags in half-mast and black flags at 6:00 am, placing of wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu.The national flag was hoisted half-mast and the black flag was hoisted as a mark of respect.

Later to marking the life of the Father of the Nation Bangabondhu, a discussion meeting was organized by the Prime University authority in the conference room. The Chief Guest of the seminar was Md Ashraf Ali, Chairman, BOT who urged to convert shock into strength by Bangabandhu's dream of building a Sonar Bangla into reality and Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan was present as chairperson. He briefly discussed on the life and deeds of Bangabandhu. Vice Chairman Nreepen Maitra, BOT was also present in the seminar and delivered his speech for the audience. The program was followed by a "Munajat". The prayer was offered for eternal peace of Bangabandhu and his family members who embraced shahadat on 15 August 1975.

Seminar on Human Rights and IT: 25 Years of Data Decentralisation Held

A seminar on Human Rights and IT: 25 Years of Data Decentralisation was held on 3rd August 2018 (Friday) at 10:00 AM in the Board Room of Prime University. The seminar was organized jointly by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Centre for Research, HRD and Publications (CRHP) of the University. It was chaired by Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of the University. Mr Md Ashraf Ali, Sr Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees and Dr Myun Ju Lee, President of Seventh-day Adventist Church of Bangladesh graced the seminar as chief guest and special guest respectively. Professor Dr Songchun Moon, College of Business, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology presented the keynote paper. The keynote speaker discussed the historic agenda of orientation of data and program in the arena of information technology. He focused on human rights and freedom of expression in information technology. There was a question answer session at the end where the audience participated spontaneously. Other than Deans of faculties, Heads of different departments, faculty members, executives and students of Prime University Dr Moses Cho, Physician from Korea and Mr Malay Kishore Sarker from Seventh-day Adventist Church of Bangladesh were also present in the seminar.

Accreditation from Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education that is BAETE which was formally known as IEB is extremely necessary for our Engineering program i.e. undergraduate programs under EEE and CSE departments. This accreditation will ensure a standardized, high quality, demanding education in accordance with the current thrive for quality higher education.

Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) with the co-operation of Center for Research, HRD and Publications (CRHP) of Prime University organized a seminar titled Preparing for the BAETE Accreditation on 30th of July, 2018 at 3:00PM in the conference Room-2. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Dr Anisul Haque, Professor of Department of EEE of East West University. He made a presentation on the journey towards obtaining the accreditation and also explored the different aspects of getting this accreditation. He said, BAETE accreditation is the acknowledgement of the department for providing quality engineering education as well as it upraises the status of the university. After that there was a very interactive question and answer session which was conducted by the speaker. The Chief guest Md. Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prime University emphasized the benefits of getting this accreditation. He also encouraged the organizers to arrange daylong seminars or workshops in future. He concluded the speech thanking the speakers and organizers. The special guest Professor Dr M A Sobhan, Vice Chancellor, Prime University talked about standardization of programs, such as, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell. He encouraged all the faculty and staff members of EEE and CSE who are the driving forces for the accreditation. Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Prime University organized a seminar on "Good Governance" which was held on 26 July 2017 at 10:45 AM in the PU Conference Room. Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of the university graced the session as the Chief Guest. Md Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, BOT was the keynote speaker while Prof Dr A S A Noor, Director of IQAC chaired the session. Md Jahidul Azad, Additional Director of IQAC delivered the welcome speech. The seminar was anchored by G M Jewel Abedin, Administrative Officer of IQAC. During the discussion session, Prof Dr Abdur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof Dr Jahangir Alam, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, M A Jabber, Registrar and Md Nur Hossain Talukder, Controller of Examinations presented their knowledgeable speeches on good governance. The Senior Vice Chairman recited from the Holy Quran and declared the session open. Prof Rahman in his speech explained the importance of effective behavior towards staff through good governance. After that, Prof Dr Jahangir Alam said that rules of law, ownership and combined participation of all the members of the PU community can ensure good governance in the institution. Later, M A Jabber discussed on the said topic and explained that everyone has to be the part of this practice to achieve the ultimate goal and also accentuated on cleanliness. Besides, Nur Hossain Talukder, Controller of Examination, Prime University expressed his aspiration that employees will perform their duties to establish good governance in this University. The keynote speaker, Md Ashraf Ali presented the overall scenario of good governance. From his experience, he described how good governance can be learned and implemented in an organization to thrive as an organization. Prime University is one of the 69 universities that entered into the HEQEP (Higher Educational Quality Enhancement Project). He expressed his disappointment that quality is missing in a portion of education system nationwide and appreciated the initiatives of World Bank to enhance the quality of education through Government of Bangladesh. With this intent PU entered into the project and constituted Quality Assurance Committee (QAC). Further, he described that the activity of IQAC is to monitor the overall function of the university regarding assurance of quality education. He urged all the executives and staff to be more cautious in discharging their duties and responsibilities which will ensure good governance in the university. The chief guest, Prof Sobhan started his speech by expressing the importance of IQAC at Prime University. He also added that IQAC is the only way to prove that the university is imparting quality education to its students. He defined good governance as the optimum utilization of resources so that we can extract an excellent output from good governance. In his closing remark, he said faculty members are an integral part of good governance. Being meritorious is not enough rather faculty members need to make their students participatory. The chairperson of the seminar, Prof Dr Noor ended the session by extending his gratitude to all the participants especially Md Ashraf Ali for giving his resourceful speech as well as the organizer of the seminar.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Prime University organized a seminar titled Job Placemen in Software Firm on 24th of July, 2018 at 12:00pm in Level-8, seminar room-805. The software firm named Datasoft systems Bangladesh Limited was invited in the seminar. The speakers were Md. Shakhawat Hossain, Human Resource Manager and Md. Atikur Rahman, Associate Project Manager of this renowned software firm. Md. Sakhawat Hossain motivated students saying about the procedure of writing standard CV, facing viva board, well dress up, manners etc. for getting a good job in software firm. The speech was followed by Mr. Atikur Rahman. He encouraged students developing the technical skills, such as CCNA, Big Data Management and IoT. After that there was a very interactive question and answer session which was conducted by the two speakers. The Chief guest Md. Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prime University advised the students to take technical trainings for developing technical skills to fulfill the demand of the IT world. He then encouraged the organizers to organize daylong Job Placement related seminars or workshops in the future. He added that these types of seminars are very helpful for the betterment of the students. He then concluded the speech thanking the speakers, organizers and the students.The special guest Prof. Dr. M A Sobhan, Vice Chancellor, Prime University said that to keep IT system running, a large number of workforces are needed to maintain networks, create new Software Engineer, Database Engineer, Web Designers etc. He then encouraged the students to take preparation to explore themselves in IT sector to build Digital Bangladesh.The Chairperson Md. A seminar entitled, Good Governance was organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Prime University in the room no. 805 on 11 July 2018 at 10:30 AM. Mir Shahabuddin, Chairman, Board of Trustees was the keynote speaker of the seminar. The Senior Vice-Chairman of BOT Md Ashraf Ali graced the session as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of the University chaired the program.

Professor Dr Abu Saleh Abdun Noor, Dean, Faculty of Engineering welcomed the guests and participants of the occasion through his speech of welcome.

The keynote speaker, Mir Shahabuddin presented the scenario of good governance at a glance over the globe, in different government and non-government institutions as well as educational sectors of the country and finally, in Prime University. He inspired the faculty members to be more serious in their duties and responsibilities which will automatically turn positive to run good governance in the University.

The chief guest, Md Ashraf Ali in his speech highlighted the actual need to establish good governance in any institution or country. He urged the faculty members to give their best efforts to enhance the quality of the students so that at the end they not only become owner of a degree but also achieve true education and quality.

There was a long and lively question answer session where audiences participated spontaneously.

The Chairperson of the seminar, Professor Dr M Abdus Sobhan in his concluding speech defined good governance as management of resources in a very effective manner. He requested all to utilize all the resources in effective ways so that there comes an excellent output of good governance. He ended the seminar with expressing his gratitude to the keynote speaker, guests, audiences as well as the organizer of the seminar.

The function was presided over by Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor, Prime University. Mir Shahabuddin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees(BOT) was present as the Chief Guest. Md Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, BOT, Treasurer Prof Md Arshad Ali, Registrar Captain (Retd, BN) M A Jabber, Deans of Faculties, Controller of Examinations, Heads of Departments, Faculty members, Executives, newly enrolled students of the University and Guests were present in the function.

Captain (Retd) M A Jabber delivered the welcome speech. In his speech, he emphasized that there are tremendous prospects of quality higher education in the private sector and about the huge future and opportunities for training themselves as good professionals.

He felt encouraged to introduce Mr Mohammad Parvej (Ex Student of English Department, 29th Batch) who became a BCS Cadre (37th Admin) and advised the fresher's to take full advantage of the facilities of the university like him and reminded them to be conscious about the quality that they are entering the last phase of their 16 years of schooling before getting their first degree.

Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor, Prime University highlighted on the knowledge of education in the light of Science, Technology, Engineering, Business, Law and English. He emphasized that Bangladesh is aspired to be a digital nation by 2021. Bangladesh is establishing 20 hi-tech parks and industrial zones in the 12 districts, where hundreds and thousands of quality knowledge workers will be required in the noted areas. The students must develop themselves with a creative and innovative outlook for the development and prosperity of the country.

During the programme, Treasurer, Deans of different Faculties, Controller of Examinations also welcomed the new-comers and advised them about their duties, moral and values they should follow to become worthy citizens of the nation. Heads of Departments, Teachers, Directors, Executives, Student and Guest were also present in the Freshers' Reception program. They also emphasized the need to maintain an academic atmosphere properly.

The academic and extra-curricular activities of the university were explained to the students. The course curricula, examination system, rules and regulations, class attendance, discipline etc. were highlighted to them also.

A colorful cultural programme was organized by the Cultural Committee in which the students and teachers participated.

A Seminar on Importance of Educational Research Held in Prime University

A seminar entitled, Importance of Educational Research was organized by the Department of Education with collaboration of Centre for Research, HRD and Publications (CRHP), Prime University in the room no. 805 on 29 June 2018 at 10:30 AM.

Prof M Nazmul Haq, Former Professor, Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka was the keynote speaker of the seminar.

The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan graced the session as the Chief Guest and Prof Dr M A Wahab, Head, Department of Education chaired the seminar.

Md Ashrafuzzaman, Senior Lecturer, Department of Education welcomed the guests and participants of the seminar. F Nahid Huq, Deputy Director of CRHP introduced Prof Nazmul Haq to the audience.

In the session, the keynote speaker presented the Importance of Educational Research by discussing the beginning of research, nature, contributors, importance, problems and the way out of educational research.The presentation of Prof Haq came to an end with a very lively question answer session. Finally, the seminar was concluded by handing over the crest, token of gifts to the Speaker by honorable Chief Guest and the Chairperson.

PUAA holds Alumni Iftar

Since the inception, Prime University Alumni Association (PUAA) has taken many initiatives to strengthen the ties between alumni and support its alma mater. After the 1st meeting on 17 November 2017, it was a good opportunity to bring the alumni together through the Iftar and Doa Mahfil. To observe the Holy month of Ramadan and reinforce the bond between alumni, PUAA organized an Iftar and Doa Mahfil on 2 June 2018 at the 2nd level of Prime University. Chairman of Board of Trustees, Prime University, Mir Shahabuddin was the chief guest in the iftar mahfil program. Besides, Treasurer of the University, Prof Mohammad Arshad Ali, Registrar, M A Jabber attended the program as the special guests. Deans of the faculty of Business Studies and Law, Heads of different departments attended the convivial event along with some faculty members. The iftar mahfil program was presided over by the president of PUAA and Vice Chancellor of Prime University, Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan. The program was divided into two segments. In the first section of discussion, Vice President-2 of PUAA, Advocate Kazi Md Moniruzzaman greeted the members present and guests in his welcome speech. He also aspired that university authority will allocate a separate room for the alumni association and provide all logistic supports whenever necessary. Special guest, Mohammad Arshad Ali wished all success of the association and urged to enroll more alumni in the association. Chief guest, Mir Shahabuddin, in his speech expressed his sincere adoration towards this alumni association and declared to dedicate a room for alumni association in the university premises. As a token of heartfelt love towards Prime University, members of alumni association donated some books to Prime University Library and handed over the gift to the Chairman of BOT, Mir Shahabuddin. In the concluding speech, President of PUAA thanked the organizing committee for arranging such efficacious occasion and requested all members to hook up for the betterment of the university. In the second part, Al Haz Quari Maulana Muhammad Abdul Qadir conducted the doa and monajat for the welfare and prosperity of the alumni association, university, country and nation. Prime University, one of the renowned universites in Bangladesh, started a course on Freelancing and Outsourcing under Prime University IT Solutions (PUITS), an organ of the university for the students, learning and earning. The inauguration ceremony was held on 27th of May, 2018 at the Conference room#2 of the Prime University permanent campus. It was organized by the department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). Speakers present were Alhaz Mir Shahabuddin, Honorable Chairman of BOT, Md. Ashraf Ali, Honorable Senior Vice Chairman of BOT, Prof. Dr. M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of Prime University, Prof. Dr. A.S.A Noor, Dean Faculty of Engineering and IT, Md. Arshad Ali, Honorable Traeasurer of Prime University, M. A Jabber, Registrar. The ceremony was presided over by Md. Abu Zaman Associate Professor and Head of the department of CSE and the coordinator of PUITS.

Besides, Deans and Heads of various disciplines along with the faculty members and the students were present in the ceremony. First of all, the honorable Chief Guest, Mr Mir Shahabuddin, Chairman of BOT inaugurated the program.

The program started with the welcome address of Professor Md. Abu Zaman, coordinator of PUITS. He emphasized on Freelancing and Outsourcing for the greater benefits of the students. He showed the value of the course for the students to build them competent for the upcoming future in the Digital Bangladesh.

The Honorable Chief Guest and the Chairman of BOT, Mir Shahabuddin emphasized on the course for outsourcing by the students. He assured the students that the University will provide all sort of help to run the program smoothly. He also mentioned about the Programming Club of Prime University (PUPC). Later on he talked with the participants and discussed about their needs and complaints.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. M Abdus Sobhan took the stage and spoke about the future of IT in Bangladesh as well as around the globe. He recalled some memorable events in his life and shared with the students. he told the students to take part in the classes attentively and ensured them that in case of any urgency he will assist the students directly.

EEE Department of Prime University conducted a "Reception Program of Meritorious Students" on 9 May 2018 at the Conference Room to recognize the academic achievements of top performers of EEE Department who have obtained the highest CGPA in the three semesters of 2017 among all day batch students. Senior Vice Chairman of BOT, Md Ashraf Ali was present there as the Chief Guest and Nrepen Maitra, Vice Chairman of BOT, Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor and Prof Mohammad Arshad Ali, Treasurer of Prime University graced the program as the Special Guests. TEX BD Training Center (TBTC) and Global Information and Technology (GIT) jointly organized a Career Counseling and Rag Day - 2018 program on 25 April 2018 for the outgoing students of Different Diploma Institutions. Prime University provided the logistic support by giving the venue. The occasion was divided into two parts. First part, the discussion and crest giving session was chaired by the Chairman of TBTC and GIT, Engr Sayfullah Al Mamun. A range of songs and dances were performed with great enthusiasm to demonstrate the tradition and customs of New Year celebration in the campus.
The objective of the program was to represent the enriched culture, tradition and heritage through various forms of performance including song, dance and fashion show. The students of Prime University also participated in a Boishakhi Fair at the arena of the campus.

Prime University Confirmed 3rd place in the 11th ULAB Fair Play Cup-2018 Tournament

Prime University won their last match(3rd place playoff)against European University and secure 3rd place in the 11th ULAB Fair play cup-2018 tournament on 28th March, 2018. In the match Prime University won the toss and decided to Bat first , scored 225/6 runs losing of their 6 wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, European University bundled out for only 101 in 9 overs for losing of their 4 wickets. Primes Ashfak Rohan notched three wickets to guide his side to a comprehensive victory and Captain Imran Hossain was adjudged player of the match for his century of 103 runs of 42 balls.

To celebrate the day Prime University organised a day long gala event titled Mohan Swadhinota & Jatiya Dibos -2018 at the university Permanent campus.To mark the historic day programme that began at 07.50 am with the hoisting of the national flag by Prof Dr S A Noor ,Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Head, Department of ETE and Nripen Mairta , Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees of Prime University.The programme started through chanting of the National Anthem.

The programme included discussion , Cultural show and Prayer. A session titled Quiz For Quest Quiz Competition,Spring-2018 was recently held on 25 March, 2018 in the Conference Hall, at Prime University Mazar Road, Paermanent Campus. The session was organized by the Department of English and focused on enhancing the general knowledge, skills of the students and help them learn and develop skills of answering quiz questions.

Mir Shahbuddin, Chairman Board of Trustees of Prime University presided over the programme and in his speech he urged the students to know about the country properly so that they can contribute to the society and make it prosperous. Prime University win First Match by defeating Uttara University in ULAB Fair Play Cup 2018

Prime University registered victories in the 11th Fair Play Cup Inter Private University Cricket Tournament Tuesday in Dhaka.

In the first match, Prime University defeated Uttara University by 55 runs. Prime University captain Imran choose to bat first and made 217 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain and batsman Imran reached top-scoring with a 80-by playing ball of 47, featuring 6 fours and 7 sixes.

In reply, Uttara University in their target they did 162/8 in their allotted 20 overs, opener Imranuzzaman scoring the highest 69 for his side. Imran Hossain Captain of Prime university become Man of the Match.

Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor in his speech shared his idea regarding the elements of postmodernism especially fragmentation, hyperreality etc. Mir Shahabuddin, Honorable Chairman, BOT in his speech ardently remembered the connectivity of University of Dhaka and Prime University particularly the contribution of late Prof. Dr. Khondokar Ashraf Hossain, Former Professor, University of Dhaka in the process of preparing the syllabus of the Department of English, Prime University. He welcomed Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoorul Islam in the university permanent campus and gave an overall idea regarding the university and simultaneously declared the session open. Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoorul Islam, in his mesmerising Keynote speech outlined Postmodernism and explained the different aspects from Modernism to Postmodernism in the field of Literature, Architecture and others. Prof M Arshad Ali in his concluding speech thanked the Keynote speaker for his compelling presentation and also thanked everyone for making the seminar a success.

Prime University Freshers Reception Spring Semester-2018

On Friday 09.03.2018 Freshers Reception was held for the newly enrolled students of different Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes under Spring Semester- 2018 at the newly built permanent campus of the university at 114/116 Mazar Road, Mirpur-1, Dhaka.

The function was presided over by Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice-Chancellor, Prime university. Mir Shahabuddin,Chairman Board of Trustees was present as Chief Guest. Md Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, Nripen Maitra,Vice Chairman, Treasurer Md Arshad Ali, Registrar M A Jabber, Deans of different Faculties, Controller of Examinations, Heads, Faculties, Executives, Students of the University and Guests also were present in the function.

Registrar M A Jabber delivered welcome speech. In his speech he emphasized that there are tremendous prospects of quality higher education in the private sector and about huge future opportunities for training themselves as good professionals.

Mir Shahabuddin, Chairman, Board of Trustees delivered his speech for the newly enrolled students to study regularly and attentively to build up their own career. He felt encouraged at the construction of the new permanent campus and advised the freshers to take full advantage of the facilities by the university and reminded them to be conscious about the quality that they are entering the last phase of their 16 years of schooling before getting their first degree.

Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice-Chancellor, Prime University highlighted education in the light of science and asked the students to develop themselves with a creative outlook as this is important for development and prosperity of a country.

During the programme Treasurer, Deans of different Faculties, Controller of Examinations of the University also welcomed the new-comers and guided the duties, moral and values they should follow to become worthy citizens of the nation. Heads of all Departments, Teachers, Directors, Executives, Student and Guest were also present at Freshers Reception program. They also emphasized the need to maintain academic atmosphere properly .

The academic and extra-curricular activities of the university were explained to the students. The course curricula, examination system, rules and regulations, class attendance, discipline etc. were highlighted to them also. Light refreshment was served in the respective department at the end of the orientation program. There was a colorful cultural show organized by Cultural Committee and participated by the students and teachers.

Prime University protested the attack on the eminent writer, educationist Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal.

Thousands of students of Prime University formed a Human Chain in front of the campus around 11:30am .Faculties, Studnets, Executives and Staff gathered in a line at Mazar Road,Mirpur -1 to condemn the cowardly attack on the eminent writer Prof Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal.

Mir Sahabuddin, Chairman, Board of Trustees said, The attack is an assault on the core of free-thinking and on the spirit of The Liberation War. Vice chancellor of Prime University Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan urged that the masterminds and those involved with the attack will be identified and punished without any mercy. In the mean time Nripen Maitra, Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees, Tresurer Md Arshad Ali, Controller of Examinations Md Nur Hossain Talukader, Deans of Faculties and Registrar of the University M A Jabber also were present.

Dr Zafar Iqbal, a noted writer and a vocal advocate of secularism, was injured in a knife attack by a youth on SUST campus on 3rd march 2018.

A seminar on Optical Signal Processing Using Nonlinear Phenomena was held on 26.02.2018 (Monday) at 03:00 PM in the conference room of Prime University. The seminar was chaired by Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of the University. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Dr Gazi Mohammad Sharif, Assistant Professor (Visiting), Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). Optical communication system has tremendous advantages than other communication systems. However, due to some unexpected effects like nonlinearity the signal is affected. These nonlinear effects can be used for optical signal processing to improve the network systems. The speaker showed how optical signal is processed using nonlinear phenomena.

Officials of Prime University International Desk received the distinguished guests in the Prime University campus. After words there was a meeting on exchange of views in the Conference Room of the Prime University where Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor, Prime University led Prime University. He welcomed the delegation members and requested the Registrar, Prime University to give a brief on Prime University. After the briefing given by the Registrar, the Vice Chancellor proposed collaboration with the Universities of Nepal with Prime University and requested the delegation members to encourage the students from Nepal to come to Prime University for their higher studies in under graduate and graduate level on affordable cost.. He also proposed student and Faculty exchange program with Nepali Universities, specially with Trivuban University. The delegation members thanked Prime University for arranging their visit to Prime University and agreed to the proposal of the Vice Chancellor, Prime University. They have told that after going back to Nepal they will work on the issue raised by the Vice Chancellor. They have also proposed joint collaborationwith Prime University to start PhD Program specially on Linguistic. Professor Dr Dan Raj Regmi informed that there are interested Nepali students to study in BBA and MBA Program in Bangladesh and he will try his best to direct interested Nepali students to study in Prime University. He will also try to connect Prime University with the Nepali companies working on sending students abroad from Nepal for higher studies. Awareness Program on UGC Digital Library (UDL) held in Prime University

An awareness program on UGC Digital Library (UDL) was held on the 15th February 2018 at the conference room of the University. The program was Chaired by Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of Prime University. IQAC of Prime University organized a day long workshop on "Data Management and Self-Assessment Report Writing" on 5th February 2018 at Prime University.Prof Dr M AbdusSobhan, Vice Chancellor of the University chaired the session whileMir Shahabuddin, Chairman, BOT was the Chief Guest and opened the session. Md. Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman and Prof MohammadArshad Ali, Treasurer were present there as the Special Guest. Prof Dr A S A Noor, Director of IQAC placed the welcome address while M A Jabber, Registrar of the University, Md. Jahidul Azad, Additional Director of IQAC, Md. ShahiduzzamanWasim, Asst. Director (Accounts) and members of Self-Assessment Committee (SAC) of different program offering entities were also present at the session. Moreover Md. Jahidul Azad conducted the session. Dr Ahmed Tazmeen and DrMahbubAhsan Khan, Quality Assurance Specialists, Quality Assurance Unit (QAU), Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), University Grants Commission (UGC) were the Speakers and facilitated the workshop. Prof Dr A S A Noor welcomed the participants in the 5th Workshop of IQAC in his welcome speech. He also added that after Team Building Workshop the members of Self-Assessment Committee with the help of the other faculty members of each department have collected data from different stakeholders and Data Entry process has also completed. Prof Dr Sanjay Kumar Adhikari, Head, Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) suggested that data analysis has to be prepared by the help of QA Specialists. The day long workshop has been conducted into different sessions by the Keynote Speakers. Prof Dr Noor has concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude to the speakers and guests for their gracious presence. Chairman, BOT, Prime University and Chief Guest of the Workshop, Mir Shahabuddin praised the faculty members who were engaged in assessing the quality of many aspects and raised hope that the output of the workshop will come to in a good shape through which it can make the University A research oriented University. After his concluding speech he declared the workshop open and wished success of the program.

Dr. Ahmed Tazmeen and Dr. Ahsan Ahmed Khan dicussed about Data Collection, Compilation, Tabulation, Presentation and Interpretation of findings in Data Management. They also focused on guided question for conducting Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Key Informant Interviewing (KII). In which they covered some self-assessment areas; Governance, Curriculum Design, Content and Review, Student Admission, Progress and Achievements, Physical Facilities, Teaching-Learning and Assessment, Student Support Services, Staff and Facilities, Research and Extension, Process management and Continuous Improvement. They have suggested keeping these documents for External Peer Reviewer's (EPRs) assessment and gave a guideline for Self-Assessment Report writing. Participants took part in an exercise and the session was ended by Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). Finally, in the concluding speech, Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Dr M AbdusSobhan praised the activities and efforts of IQAC as it has been arranging important workshops. In his speech, he expressed his aspiration of imparting even better quality education through the skilled faculty members, enriched infrastructure and amenities. Prof Sobhan opined that this kind of workshop will certainly enhance the quality of education in Prime University.Finally he thanked all the participants and especially toDr Ahmed Tazmeen and DrAhsan Ahmed Khan for accepting our invitation and conducting the workshop.

Prime University observed 40th Shahadat Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Prime University observed the National Mourning Day and paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due solemnity and honor marking his 40th death anniversary on 15th August 2015 at the university campus. Chairman of the Board of Trustees Md. Ashraf Ali, Sr. Vice Chairman Mir Shahabuddin, Vice Chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan, PhD (Engg), Professor Prof. Mohammad Arshad Ali, Treasurer, Deans, Head of the different departments, Registrar, faculty members and staff of the university were present on this occasion.
