Celebration of Saraswati Puja

Saraswati Puja, one of the religious festivals of Hindu community was celebrated with a huge enthusiasm on 1st February 2017 at the permanent campus of Prime University with traditional gaiety, religious fervor and spirit of pursuit of art and knowledge. On the day, University campus wore a festive look with colorfully decorated puja pavilions where hundreds of devotees thronged at the puja pandal to offer prayers to Devi Saraswati and seeking Her blessing for knowledge. The puja started at 8.30 am and Pushpanjali held at 9:45 am in the morning. Moreover, the puja celebrating committee had also arranged distribution of Prashads among devotes. The presence of Chairman, Senior Vice Chairman, Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees, Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Registrar, Dean and Head of different departments made the festival even more attractive. Finally, it is the belief of all devotees that with Her blessing the days of ignorance will end and we will awake ourselves into spiritual enlightenment.

Training Program on "How to Pursue for PhD Program" held at Prime University

It is the goal of the University that every faculty member will become efficient and effective. In view of that the Centre for Research, HRD and Publications organized a daylong training program on the topic "How to Pursue for PhD Program" on 25 January 2017 for the teaching and administrative community of the University. The occasion was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. M. Abdus Sobhan. The training program was aimed at addressing the issue of improving the quality of teaching staff and to inspire them for pursuing PhD. Over 30 senior faculty members and executives participated in the training session. Entire program was segregated into two lecture sessions. Speakers of the first lecture session, respected Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. M. Abdus Sobhan and honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Saifuddin Shah offered their presentations on "How to Pursue a PhD Level Research" and "Pursuing a PhD Program: The relevant queries on the part of the candidates" respectively. Professor Sobhan covered background and necessity of a PhD program, stages of PhD students, required quality of PhD candidates and considerations to check before pursuing PhD. During the question answer session, some participates wanted to know the format and role of candidates in selecting the research topics. Queries were attained thoroughly by the speaker. Second speaker of the 1st lecture session, Prof. Saifuddin in his presentation stated, "Purpose of PhD degree is to train the career people as teachers, scholars and researchers." His presentation contained the possible FAQs from PhD candidates' part. He advised the participants not to choose research area based on funding availability rather than one's own interest of research field. In the second lecture session on "Writing a good motivation letter and PhD research proposal", Professor Saifuddin Shah systematically took the participants through the prologue and structure of PhD motivation letter. Participants were also enlightened with different approaches and techniques of writing a statement of purpose. Closing remarks were given by the Chairperson of the session, Prof. Dr. M. Abdus Sobhan. He thanked CRHP to facilitate the training program and all the participants and stressed on getting involved with innovative research. All the participants appreciated the initiatives of university authority for arranging such a program and agreed that the training was beneficial for them to pursue PhD program.

Prime University Debate Team jointly declared Winner in the UCB Public Parliament Debate Competition

Prime University Debating Society (PUDS) was jointed declared the winner in the first round of to the prestigious national parliamentary debate competition "UCB Public Parliament Debate Competition - 2016" organized by ATN Bangla and Debate for Democracy on July 23, 2016 at the ATN Studio situated in Bangladesh Film Development Corporation in Dhaka. The topic of the debate was "Only social awareness can remove militancy." Shadowing the opposition party Prime University debate team took position against the motion while BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) debate team shadowed the ruling party. Both teams were declared winner as they secured same points. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was present as the chief guest while Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, chairman of ATN Bangla and M A Sabur, chairman of UCB Bank were present as special guests. Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron, renowned TV personality and chairman of Debate for Democracy was present as the speaker of the mock Parliament.

Seminar on "The Role of Election Commission to Establish Democracy" held at Prime University

A seminar entitled "The Role of Election Commission to Establish Democracy" was held at Prime University on 11th August 2016. Engineer Prof. Dr. M. Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor of the University chaired the session while member of Board of Trustees of Prime University, Mir Shahabuddin, enlightened the session being the special guest. Treasurer, Prof. Mohammad Arshad Ali, Registrar of the University, Mohammad Abdul Jabber, Prof. Dr. Abu Saleh Abdun Noor, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Heads and faculty members of different departments were also there. Mohammad Abu Hafiz, honorable Election Commissioner of Bangladesh Election Commission was there as the keynote speaker. Seminar started by the welcome address of Md. Abu Zaman, Assistant Professor of the Department of EEE. Prof. Mohammad Arshad Ali, in his speech mentioned that being the constitutional body, election commission has paramount responsibility of establishing democracy, i.e. ensure the right of every voter to exercise their voting rights. Mir Shahabudddin, in his speech as special guest applauded the initiative of Centre for Research, HRD and Publications for arranging seminar on such decisive topic. Mentioning the tragic incident of ruthlessly killing of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he remembered the regimes of dictators and non-democratic governments and their oppressions to the citizens and political parties. Later on, he revealed the aspiration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of establishing democracy in the country and urged all to take the vow of creating democratic mentality among ourselves. Eventually, the keynote Speaker introduced the audience with the meaning, forms, elements and characteristics of democracy. He also showed the comparative study of democracy prevailing in the UK, USA and India. In his paper, he exemplified the set-backs that our country suffered in the path of establishing democracy. In that context, he explained the responsibility of election commission to organize a free and fair election and the challenges to overcome agitation and violence. Finally, he ended his presentation with the aspiration that every voter should be aware of their rights and responsibilities to ensure the integrity of election. Later, a delightful question answer session took place. Chairperson of the seminar delivered his speech by collocating the contents of the speaker's speech. Finally, he gave his appreciation to the keynote speaker to deliver his presentation and CRHP to organize the program.

Seminar on "Prospects of Nanotechnology" held at Prime University

Nanotechnology, the technology that operates in nano(one-billionth) - scale has the potential to create a wealth of new materials and manufacturing possibilities that profoundly impact our economy, environment and society. The implications of nanotechnology are wide-ranging and future applications for nanotechnology seem only to be limited by the creativity of researchers. Understanding the importance of nanotechnology in the current context, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering arranged a seminar entitled "Prospects of Nanotechnology" on 6th January 2015 at Prime University. Engineer Prof. Dr. M. Abdus Sobhan, Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University was chairing the session. Respected Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Hossain Sikder and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT, Prof. Dr. Abu Saleh Abdun Noor graced the session as the Special Guest. Honorable member of the University's Board of Trustees, Mir Shahabuddin enlightened the session being the guest of honor. Head and faculty members of different departments were also there. Seminar started by the welcome speech of the Program Coordinator, Md. Mostak Ahmed, Head of the Department of EEE. Special Guest, Professor Noor expressed his aspiration of arranging such seminar in every month from the Faculty of Engineering. Guest of Honor, Mir Shahabuddin and Special Guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Hossain Sikder appreciated the effort of Faculty of Engineering and Center for Research, HRD and Publications for arranging seminar on such crucial topic. Speaker, Dr. Zahid Hasan Mahmood, Professor of the Department of EEE of Dhaka University introduced the audience with the four quadrants of his presentation, glimpses from the world, flavor of his research, dream, reality and bright future of nanotechnology. He mentioned the application of nanotechnology in nanomedicine, environment, energy sector, information and communication, construction engineering, textile, cosmetics, agriculture etc. Dr. Zahid also showed the research activities of Dhaka University and his research wing on silicon nanowire. Finally, his presentation ended with the question-answer session. Engineer Prof. Dr. M. Abdus Sobhan, Chairperson of the seminar cited his contribution towards nanotechnology research and thanked the speaker and organizer for the session. At the concluding session, Vice Chancellor of the University handed over the flower bouquet to the Speaker as a token of appreciation.

At the same time, how our privacy and security has become so vulnerable. All of our activities online are being recorded one way or another. This big data prediction enables us to radically know more about ourselves and directly translate that knowledge into improved decision making and performance. However, at the same time it exposing us to greater risks both financially and socially. Later, he gave the audience some proper directions to follow to achieve a better security. Finally, he ended his presentation with the promise of zero unemployment for security specialist and answering lots of genuine concerns of the students about security. Chairperson of the seminar and honorable Vice Chancellor of the university delivered his speech by collocating the contents of the Speaker's speech. At the concluding session, Program Coordinator and Chairperson handed over the flower bouquet and crest to the Speaker of the session as a token of appreciation.

The 9th meeting of the Editorial Board of Prime University Journal (PUJ) was held on February 25, 2015 at 4:00 pm at the Conference Room of the University. The meeting was presided over by Professor Dr. M A Sobhan, Editor of the Prime University Journal. Along with the Patron of the Journal, Mr. Md. Ashraf Ali, Professor Mohammad Arshad Ali, Managing Editor, PUJ, Mir Shahabuddin and Professor Dr. MA Jalil, Members of the Editorial Board of PUJ were present in the meeting.

Celebration of Saraswati Puja

Prime University adorned the colour of spring with flamboyant decorations with traditional gaiety, religious fervor and spirit of pursuit of art and knowledge amongst the students, faculty members and staff who gathered together to celebrate annual Saraswati Puja on the occasion of Vasant Panchmi, 25th January 2015 at the campus. On the day, University campus wore a festive look with colorfully decorated puja pavilions where hundreds of devotees thronged at the puja pandal to offer prayers to Devi Saraswati and seeking Her blessing for knowledge. The rituals started at 8:00 am with the establishment of Protima. Celebration also included Devi Aradhona, Pushpanjoli, distribution of prashad and ceremonial immersion of Devi idol with priests chanting mantras and devotees placing palash flowers at the Deity's feet with the sounds of cymbal, conch shell and dhak dhol. The presence of the members of Board of Trustees, Treasurer, Registrar and Chairman of different departments made the festival even more attractive. The occasion came to its final moment with the aspiration that our morality and spiritual life will be enlightened.

Prime University achieves a dazzling victory in the Quarter Final of the Prestigious National Parliamentary Debate Competition 'Public Parliament' against Asian University of Bangladesh at ATN Bangla. Through this victory Prime University secures the Semi Final of the event. This remakable success is the outcome of the strong effort of the debaters and mentors of the team.

Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the Course 'Advanced Research Methodology'

The certificate awarding ceremony of the 1st batch of the course 'Advanced Research Methodology', organized by the Centre for Research, HRD and Publications of Prime University, was held on the 14th January, 2015 at 11:00 am in the conference room of the University. Professor Dr. Profulla C. Sarker, Vice Chancellor of the University chaired the program. Mr. Md. Ashraf Ali, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) was the Chief Guest while Mr. Mir Shahabuddin, Sr. Vice Chairman, BOT and Professor Dr. M. Abdus Sobhan, Member, BOT were present as special guests.

Five research reports were presented in the program. At the end of the presentation the participants were awarded with certificates.

In continuation to the success of the 1st batch the Centre is going to start the sessions of the 2nd batch at the end of the month January 2015.

Prime University achieves a landslide victory at BTV Debate

Prime University achieves a landslide victory in 22nd National Debate Competition at Bangladesh Television.

Prime University's Debate club, Prime University Debating Society (PUDS) has achieved a landslide victory against Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) in the prestigious '22nd National Television Debate Competition' at Bangladesh Television recently. The debaters made a significant mark in the session through their irrefutable logic and argument. Their comprehensive victory is the result of great team work and coordination of the debaters and mentors of the club.

An inaugural program of the Certificate Course on "Advanced Research Methodology" organized by the Centre for Research, HRD and Publications of Prime University was held on the 22nd September, 2014 at 2:30 pm at the conference room of the University. Prof. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker, Vice Chancellor of the University was the chairperson of the program while Mr. Md. Ashraf Ali, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) and Mr. Mir Shahabuddin, Sr. Vice Chairman, BOT were chief guest and special guest of the program respectively. On the two months course of "Advanced Research Methodology" aims to cover hand-on training on research protocol in Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Studies, Statistics and Law. Ph.D fellows, M.Phil candidates, Development Professionals and undergraduate students who are intended to build up their career in research in an interdisciplinary approach with heaps of publications in internationally recognized journals are welcome to take part in the course.

A seminar entitled "Professional Advance IT Training" held at Prime University on 14th August 2014. Prof. Dr. Abu Saleh Abdun Noor, chairman of the department of CSE and ETE was chairing the session. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker, honorable Vice Chancellor of the university was the Chief Guest. Engr. Diponkar Paul, Chairman of the department of EEE and Md. Humayun Kabir, GM, IT Bangla Limited were present as Special Guests. As the special guest of the seminar, Md. Humayun Kabir and Engr. Diponkar Paul introduced professional IT training as an effective way of developing skill. They mentioned an approximate statistics of number of students who get the chance to study in IT related courses at public and private universities as well as diploma institutions in our country. While unemployment problem is one of the biggest challenges in our country, employment crisis is also pervasive in IT sector, they said. Special guests pointed at skill, hard work, challenge and cooperation as the four keys to success in any profession. While the Vice Chancellor and Chief Guest of the session emphasized on organizing such seminars for the development of students. The Chairperson of the seminar mentioned his future plan of organizing these types of programs.

National Mourning day and 39 death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

A discussion program regarding the different aspects of the life of the Father of the nation and "Doa Mahfil" was held on 15th August, 2014 at 10.00 AM at the university premises on the occasion of National Mourning day and 39 death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

The Program was presided by Prof. Dr. Profulla Chandra Sarker, Vice Chancellor, Prime University, Prof. Dr. M. Abdus Sobhan (Member, Board of Trustee, Prime University) was present as the Chief Guest, Mir Shahabuddin (Member, Board of Trustee, Prime University) was present as the Special Guest along with other officials of the University.

Teachers Training

The 7th Teachers Training Program Inaugurated

The 7th Teachers Training Program organized by the Centre for Research, HRD and Publications of Prime University has started. The inauguration of the program was held on the 11th May 2014. Mir Shahabuddin, Member, Board of Trustees graced the program as chief guest while Prof. Dr. Profulla Chandra Sarker, Vice Chancellor of the University was the Chairperson. Twenty eight Lecturers and Junior Lecturers of different departments are taking part in the training program. There are twenty five sessions in the program including six presentations of the trainee teachers. At the end of the program the successful faculty members will be awarded certificates. The program is designed to provide the fresh faculty members the guidance to develop skill and qualities of a university teacher.

A seminar entitled "Research and co-curricular activities of Engineering students in Bangladesh" was held on 6th May 2014 at Prime University. Prof. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker, honorable Vice Chancellor of the University was chairing the session while the same was graced by Mr. Ashfaque U. Chowdhury, Honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prime University as the Chief Guest. The session started by the welcome speech of Prof. Dr. Abu Saleh Abdun Noor, honorable Chairman of the department of CSE and ETE, Prime University. The Speaker, Prof. Dr. M. Kaykobad of BUET introduced the audience with computer programming and its power to solve real life problems. For the development of the country he emphasized on leveraging the infinite energy of our young people. He put importance to do research on various fields to utilize the knowledge and intelligence of our students. Chief Guest, Mr. Ashfaque U. Chowdhury focused on the impacts of computer on present civilization. The Chairperson of the seminar mentioned the application of mathematics and ethics on any discipline. He also advised students to spend their valuable time to do research in their respective fields of interest.

Workshop entitled "Importance of Developing Debating Skills" was held at Prime University

A workshop entitled "Importance of Developing Debating Skills" was held on 30th April 2014 at Prime University. The event was organized by Prime University Debating Society (PUDS). Prof. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker, honorable Vice Chancellor of the University chaired and inaugurated the session. Mst Shahanaz Khanam honorable Chairman, Department of English was present as guest. Mr. Shuvodip Das, Lecturer, Dept. of ETE was the Co-ordinator of the session. Md. Jahidul Azad, Lecturer, Dept. of English and Md. Mafin Muntasir Rahman, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE along with Mr. Shuvodip Das was the speakers of the workshop. At the beginning of the program, Mr. Shuvodip Das welcomed everyone to the workshop in his welcome speech. The Chairperson of the session Prof. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker emphasized on the importance of such workshop for the betterment of the students and wished success of the program.

The eventful program was divided into two parts. The first part was the discussion session. The second part includes audio-visual presentation comprising the activities and achievements of PUDS so far. Md. Mafin Muntasir Rahman focused on "Life and Debate", Md. Jahidul Azad focused on "Debate and Career" and Mr. Shuvodip Das in his presentation clarified "Rules and Regulations of Debating" in the session.

Workshop on Web Development and Networking was held at Prime University

A workshop entitled "Web Development and Networking" was held on 17th April 2014 at Prime University. The event was organized jointly by Faculty of Engineering, Prime University and Nexus IT Zone. Prof. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker, honorable Vice Chancellor of the University was chairing the session. Prof. Dr. Abu Saleh Abdun Noor, honorable Chairman of the department of CSE and ETE was the Co-ordinator of the session. Md. Zahidul Islam, Chairman of Nexus IT Zone was the chief guest of the workshop. At the beginning of the program, Prof. Dr. Abu Saleh Abdun Noor welcomed everyone to the workshop on his welcome speech. Prof. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker emphasized the importance of such workshops and wished success of the program.

The workshop was divided into two parts. The first part was about the state of the art tools and technologies behind web design and development. The trainers trained participants how to work with HTML and CSS using modern IDEs and introduced them with some responsive web designing techniques. It was followed by a Q&A session on the Web technologies. After having refreshment break, second part started on Networking. A presentation on the capabilities of linux and its importance on todays ever growing enterprises was given. Later, participants were given a demonstration on networking and introduction to the CCNA certification course contents followed by another Q&A session.

After these two parts, participants attained a quiz session. The workshop ended after presenting each of the participants with a certificate for participation.

Seminar on The Present Challenges of the Scientific World

A seminar on "The Present Scientific Challenges of the World" was held on 18th March 2014 at Prime University. Prof. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker, learned Vice Chancellor of the University was chairing the session while the same was graced by Mr. Ashfaque U. Chowdhury, Honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prime University as its Chief Guest. The Speaker, Prof. Dr. M. Ali Asgar of BUET presented a unique picture embodied with current information regarding challenges of science and technology followed by possible ways to incorporate those in our life. Chief Guest, Mr. Ashfaque U. Chowdhury emphasized the need for implementation of technology to increase the agricultural productivity and in other spheres of life. The Chairperson of the seminar expressed his deep concern over the problem of exploding population explosion in Bangladesh and the possible challenges of science and technology and suggested some means of overcoming those problems.

Seminar on Sundarban and Environment held at Prime University



A seminar entitled "Sundarban and Environment" held at Prime University on 4th March 2014. Prof. Dr. Profulla C. Sarker, honorable Vice Chancellor of the University was chairing the session. The key speaker was Dr. Anurag Danda, Head, Climate Change and Adaptation and Sundarbans Programme, WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature)-India. The speaker in his speech emphasized on the issues of conserving the endangered species and the ecosystem of Sundarban. The Chairperson of the seminar expressed his views that there should be joint effort between Bangladesh and India to protect the Sundarban for the greater interest of the people of this region.
