Renowned Educationalist and Prominent Researcher, Professor Dr Bilash Kanti Bala Joined Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department as the Head
Prime University authority has appointed Professor Dr Bilash Kanti Bala as the Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department. Professor Bala brings with him 50 years of wealth of knowledge and experience in Teaching & Research, Administration & Management. He is a dynamic and qualified educationalist and researcher. He served as the Dean of Engineering Faculty and Faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University and Bangladesh Agricultural University respectively. In 1970, he started his career in teaching as the Assistant Professor under the department of Farm Power and Machinery of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Later, he was promoted to Professor of the same department. He continued teaching in that university till 2012 and later on, he joined in Universiti Putra Malaysia as the Research Fellow. From 2016 to 2018 he performed his responsibilities as the Professor of Agro Product Processing Technology Department of Jessore University of Science and Technology. Professor Bala was an Associate Editor of the high impact factor journal Energy published by Elsevier for more than a decade. Besides teaching, he worked as local consultant of UNDP, Silpakorn University, Thailand and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Dr Bala received his post-doctoral and PhD degree from University of Newcastle, UK. He completed his Masters degree in Engineering and BSc in Electrical Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He possesses profound interest in renewable energy, food security, climate change, rural electrification, modeling of biological, agricultural, aquacultural, environmental & socio-economic systems and drying & storage of agricultural products. Moreover, he published more than two hundred research papers in high impact factor, peer-reviewed journals of both home and abroad. Additionally, he has authored, co-authored 11 text books in the areas of Power Transmission, Distribution, Electrical Machinery, Renewable Energy, System Dynamics, Modelling & Simulation of Energy and Environment and Drying & Storage of Grains. He has also written book chapters on the above-mentioned topics. Under his guidance and supervision, many students have acquired their PhD degrees.
In his current role as Head of EEE Department, he will strive to elevate the academic ambiance for students & faculty members so that they can become productive human resources and fulfil their career aspirations.
