Workshop held at Prime University on the Draft Self-Assessment Report of Department of EEE in the Seminar Room on 13 September, 2018

A workshop on Draft Self-Assessment Report (SAR) of the department of EEE was held at Prime University (PU) in the seminar room on 13 September, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The Workshop was organized by Self-Assessment Committee of EEE department of PU. Alhaj Mir Shahabuddin, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of Prime University Trust was the Chief Guest while Md Abu Zaman, Associate Professor and Head of Self-Assessment Committee chaired the session. The Special Guests were Md. Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, BOT of PU, Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr ASA Noor, and Director of IQAC of Prime University.

Prof Dr Jahangir Alam, Dean of Faculty of Business Studies, Prof Jahangir Alam, D Engg, Head of the department of CSE, Prof Dr Rezaul Karim Mazumder, depertment of EEE of PU, M A Jabber, Registrar and Md Jahidul Azad, Additional Director of IQAC, PU were also present in the workshop. Mr Shuvodip Das, Assistant Professor of EEE, Md Mostak Ahmed, Associate Professor and Head of EEE and Md Abu Zaman, Associate Professor of EEE presented the draft report in the Workshop.

Md Abu Zaman, Associate Professor and Head of the Self-Assessment Committee of EEE delivered the welcome speech. He emphasized that there are tremendous prospects of enhancing quality higher education in the private sector and the IQAC plays a vital role in developing the faculties that they can impart quality education nationwide for producing quality engineering graduate students. He also said that his department is doing very well and they are trying their level best to serve the nation in all the areas of Higher Education of EEE.

Alhaj Mir Shahabuddin inaugurated the workshop and said, "We have to go all through the report before the due time and it is high time to mark our strengths and weaknesses by finding our own problems. It will help us to understand where we are standing and what more we have to improve".

Md Ashraf Ali delivered his speech on the aspect of developing the quality higher education in the university level. He expected that the SAR would be the finest document to be produced and our quality graduate products will be accepted in the country and abroad without any question. In order to get success of this program, he suggested that all the department should have similarities in between their SA Reports that there may not arise contradiction. Otherwise dissimilarities will make confusion.

Prof Dr Rezaul Karim Mazumder of the department of EEE of PU said that a good university must have three things. Those are good faculties, good laboratories and good library. Among these, the faculty is the most important one. If they are having good qualities they will enrich the department and so the university will automatically rise to its excellence. Good library encourages the students for better study and obviously the laboratory facilities bring the practice aspects of learning which are very important in this level of higher study.

M A Jabber, Registrar of Prime University also expressed his belief that Prime University is sure to succeed if academics stimulate and ensure imparting quality education to make the university a center of excellence. He expected that we have very good faculty members and they will bring gold medals for the university very soon from the UGC.

Prof Dr A S A Noor, the Director of IQAC illustrated through his works and experience that yet he is going ahead with his destination stages for SWOT analysis. There is lot of issues, different types of difficulties, findings, supervision during his period of duty etc. He said, Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, Vice Chancellor and Prof Dr Jahangir Alam, Dean of Faculty Business Studies reviewed the draft reports. They have done a good job and given very effective feedbacks to improve the reports. He gave thanks for their valuable suggestion. He also wish to finish his work within the due time that is by 30th November, 2018 to get a good peer review report.

Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, said that self-assessment is the best assessment. This SAR will show how they have assessed themselves in enhancement of higher education in EEE. It is an eye opener event to us as to how much quality education we are providing to the students, as we always claim that we have been providing quality higher education to our learners. It will show the strengths, weakness, opportunity and threat in front of us of the different sectors of the university. He said that we arrange training session for the faculty members at the beginning of every year. With the addition of UDL (University Grants Commission Digital Library) our library has become more reach with adequate e-books and e-resources facilities in the form of many journals in electronic form. He emphasized that a good faculty is he, who involves himself with teaching as well as doing research at the same time. He assured that he will study the report and will discuss about the findings with the top management of the university. We must be on the track providing with the quality education to students by developing effective teaching methodology. AS 20 hi-tech parks are being set-up in 12 districts, there we will need hundreds and thousands of ICT and other types of quality graduates, even law graduates for the legal divisions of those parks. He wished grand successes of the workshop. He also thanked and congratulated those who arranged the workshop.

Everybody focused mainly on how to enrich the quality of academic, non-academic staffs and facilities. The workshop was concluded by the session chair Mr Md Abu Zaman, Associate Professor and Head of the Self-Assessment Committee the Dept. of EEE delivered the closing speech.
