Department of EEE Organized a workshop on "Power Distribution Substation (33/11/04KV) Design, Protection and Simulation"
Workshops are a great way for students to gain hands-on experience and rapidly acquire applied knowledge on pivotal topics where curriculum-based education is yet to address the real-world circumstances. In light of this, department of EEE and Center for Research, HRD and Publications jointly arranged a day-long workshop on "Power Distribution Substation (33/11/04KV) Design, Protection and Simulation" on 13 November (Wednesday) 2019. BOT Chairman of Prime University, Mir Shahabuddin adorned the session as the Chief Guest while Md Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman of BOT, Professor Dr Mohammad Arshad Ali, Treasurer and Professor Dr Abu Saleh Abdun Noor, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering were present in the occasion as the Special Guests. Head of EEE Department, Md Mostak Ahmed was present at the event as the program Chair. Engineer Md Fardouse Alam, Manager (Technical Division) of Innova Engineering Limited and Electrical Supervisor of Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of the Government of Bangladesh conducted the workshop session as the facilitator.
The entire program was divided into three segments where 1st part was the inauguration and 2nd & 3rd segments were workshop presentation and certificate awarding ceremony respectively. In the inauguration session, Shuvodip Das, Assistant Professor of EEE Department delivered the address of welcome and introduced the trainer of the workshop. Facilitator of the workshop, Engineer Fardouse enlightened the audience with the benefits of participating in that workshop. Afterwards, Professor Noor talked about the importance of organizing such kind of workshops to fulfill the requirement of IQAC, Improvement plan. Professor Dr Arshad Ali urged the faculty members to groom the students properly so that they can thrive in their working career. Special Guest, Md Ashraf Ali extended his gratitude to the trainer and expressed his aspiration that through participation in such workshops, students of EEE department will become skilled and well trained. Chief Guest, Mir Shahabuddin, emphasized on strategies that need to be adopted to fill the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge. Additionally, he suggested the faculty members to satiate the academic affairs of students since university is the gateway between academic and professional sector. In his speech, he commended the activities of concern department and CRHP for arranging such kind of workshop. The inauguration session ended with the speech of session chair, Md Mostak Ahmed. He acknowledged the contribution of CRHP and faculty members for their relentless efforts to make the workshop a success.
Engineer Fardouse conducted the workshop session in two segments where 42 registered students and 10 faculty members participated. The training included, acquainting with the components of distribution substation, calculation of the required ratings to design a substation and finally the simulation of an entire distribution substation. Participants were tremendously enthusiastic throughout the entire training period.
The eventful day concluded with the Certificate Awarding Ceremony. Md Ashraf Ali, Senior Vice Chairman, Nrepen Maitra, Vice Chairman and Firoj Mahmud Hossain, Secretary General of BOT, Professor Dr Arshad Ali, Treasurer, Professor Dr A S A Noor, Dean, Faculty of Engineering of Prime University awarded certificates to 42 students and had a photo session with the attendees. Md Ashraf Ali handed over crest to the trainer of the workshop, Engineer Md Fardouse Alam and appreciated his charitable efforts.
